-REDPRESSWIRE- Loovies LLC, a binational U.S.-Mexico food-technology company, has announced its entry into the snack market with the launch of Loovies Styx. This new vegetable crisp has been recognized as the first snack to receive the highest rating across 15 international nutritional frameworks, marking a significant milestone in the packaged food industry. The launch is aimed at addressing persistent nutritional gaps, particularly in the diets of American children, who, according to CDC/NCHS data from 2021 to 2023, obtain 61.9 percent of their daily calories from ultra-processed foods. This trend is not limited to children; similar patterns are observed in adult diets, influencing long-term health outcomes for families across the United States and beyond.
Loovies Styx was developed with the intention of providing a healthier alternative to conventional snacks, which are often based on refined flour, seed oils, and synthetic additives. The product is designed to appeal to families and especially to children, who are often the most challenging demographic to reach with nutritious foods. By creating a snack that delivers the nutritional value of a serving of fresh vegetables in a format that children voluntarily choose, Loovies aims to help close the gap between recommended and actual vegetable intake in daily diets.
Each 22-gram serving of Loovies Styx is made from 150 grams of whole vegetables and fruit before dehydration, ensuring a dense concentration of nutrients. The ingredient list is composed of 14 different vegetables, one fruit, less than 7 percent functional vegetable fibers such as acacia fiber, and, in select flavors, a small quantity of natural flavoring. Notably, the product contains no refined flour, no oil, no added sugar, and no synthetic additives. This composition sets Loovies Styx apart from most snacks in the market, which typically rely on processed ingredients and additives to enhance flavor and shelf life.
The snack industry has long faced criticism for its reliance on ingredients that contribute little to overall nutrition and may even have negative health effects. Many products marketed as "healthier" alternatives simply substitute one processed ingredient for another, without fundamentally altering the nutritional profile. Loovies Styx, however, was engineered to deliver a net nutritional gain, offering consumers a snack that is not just less harmful, but actively beneficial.
The exceptional nutritional profile of Loovies Styx has been independently verified. A European nutritional study conducted at UCAM-Catholic University of Murcia (Spain), and published in PriMera Scientific Medicine and Public Health in 2026, audited 136,585 packaged food products available on a global scale. Among these, Loovies Styx was the only product to simultaneously achieve the highest possible rating across 15 international nutritional and regulatory frameworks. These include the Nutri-Score front-of-pack system, where it received an "A" rating, the NOVA food processing classification (Group 1, indicating unprocessed or minimally processed foods), and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's updated "healthy" nutrient content claim. The probability of any product achieving this combination is less than one in two million, making Loovies Styx a statistical anomaly in the food industry.
"Of the 136,585 products we audited, this was the only one to reach the top classification in every framework we applied. It redefines the standard of what a healthy snack can become," said Prof. Dr. Javier Morán, University Institute of Food and Regulatory Innovation, UCAM (Spain), and scientific adviser to Loovies.
The development of Loovies Styx was a collaborative process involving more than just food scientists and engineers. Over a period of four years, the product underwent 326 formulation iterations, shaped by ongoing dialogue with the MomBoard—a global community of mothers who played a direct role in influencing the product’s name, form, flavors, and ingredients. The MomBoard is central to Loovies' approach, with each member named a Loovies Cofounder. This title is not honorary, nor can it be purchased or transferred; it is extended by personal invitation to women recognized for their commitment to nutrition, family health, and intentional parenting.
Every Loovies Cofounder is permanently recognized in the company's founding record, with her name engraved on a personal MomBox and inscribed in the Loovies public archive. The MomBox, a physical welcome kit designed as a family heirloom, includes a Cofounder certificate, the first collection of Loovies Styx flavors, and tools to help onboard children into healthier eating habits. Cofounders also receive voting rights on future formulations, flavors, and ingredient decisions—giving them the same voice as the company’s scientific council. Additional benefits include the ability to nominate a child for a scholarship, three intransferable invitations to offer to other mothers, priority access to future launches and joint ventures, participation in exclusive retreats with leading researchers in nutrition and longevity, and presence in the company’s editorial record and founding book.
"The MomBoard is not a marketing program. It is the real infrastructure of the company," said Hector M. Sánchez, founder and CEO of Loovies. "We are not selling to mothers—we are building alongside them. Every crisp that leaves our facility carries their fingerprint on it."
At launch, MomBoard Cofounders serve as the initial distribution channel in Mexico, leveraging their networks to introduce Loovies Styx to families. Access to the MomBoard is by invitation only, but a waitlist is open for interested participants at loovies.com. This community-driven approach is intended to ensure that the product reaches households most invested in nutrition and family health from the outset.
The technical development of Loovies Styx involved a multidisciplinary team of food scientists and process engineers working across five countries: Mexico, the United States, Canada, Spain, and Switzerland. The company’s NutrionIQ production platform is powered by EnWave technology, a Canadian food-technology company known for its patented dehydration processes. The technology supporting Loovies Styx is protected by 18 international patents, reflecting the innovation required to create a snack composed primarily of whole foods and plant fibers at industrial scale.
Loovies is rolling out Loovies Styx first in Mexico through the MomBoard program. The company plans to enter the U.S. market in the first quarter of 2027, aligning with the compliance date for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s updated "healthy" nutrient content claim in 2028. This timing is significant, as only about 5 percent of packaged foods in the U.S. currently qualify for a "healthy" label, highlighting the potential impact of Loovies Styx on the American snack market and consumer choices.
